Lift truck vendor Toyota Forklift has launched a new aerial work platform to target market segments with tight-fitting construction and maintenance needs such as construction, plant and building maintenance, piping, and painting, the company said today.
The AICHI Vertical Mast Lift product features multi-stage post style masts, providing high lift heights in a compact unit that fits through a standard doorway, according to Columbus, Ind.-based Toyota Material Handling USA (TMHU).
They offer platform heights of 12 and 16 feet with a standard platform extension that provides an additional 15 inches for hard to reach locations. The vertical mast lifts are just 30 inches wide and 4 feet, 6 inches long, allowing for navigation in space-restricted and narrow areas where a scissor lift would be too big, Toyota said.
The new AICHI product also comes with a zero-degree turn radius for enhanced maneuverability and standard non-marking tires, as well as a dual motor AC direct drive system.
"We set out to build new work platforms for the construction trades primarily, but these lifts offer a lot more," Toyota Material Handling Senior Vice President Tony Miller said in a release. "This is an ideal solution for any workspace in which a ladder over 10 feet is needed."
TMHU is on track to be bundled with its sister division, Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing (TIEM), into a single business unit by January 2020, in order to create a more unified corporate culture, the company has said.
