Cross-border third-party logistics provider FLS Transportation has acquired freight broker Scott Logistics Corp., the companies said today. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The acquisition helps Montreal-based FLS Transportation expand its presence in the United States, adding eight branches and five agent locations across the country to FLS' existing network of 10 locations in the United States and Canada.
Based in Rome, Ga., Scott Logistics matches empty trucks with available loads of freight all over the country. Services include truckload, dry and refrigerated, LTL (less-than-truckload), intermodal, over dimensional, heavy haul and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) capability. FLS offers cross-border expertise through a network of 12,000 carriers and 300,000 trucks; services include dry van, temperature control, LTL, intermodal, bulk, drayage, project logistics and freight management, the company said.
The deal creates a 3PL with revenues of approximately $500 million (USD), according to John Leach, CEO of FLS Transportation.
"The combination of FLS's 30-year cross-border expertise with Scott's deep U.S. carrier network will significantly increase our scale and coverage in the highly fragmented Truck Load brokerage space," Leach said in a statement announcing the acquisition.
