Infinity buys 200 refrigerated containers for OR and WA service

Refrigerated intermodal service provider Infinity Transportation Logistics LLC (ITL) said Monday it is doubling its capacity by purchasing new containers and adding office staff to handle rising demand for its temperature-controlled business.

ITL says it offers shippers in Washington State and Oregon access to nearly two-thirds of the U.S. population, providing temperature-controlled, door-to-door, domestic intermodal service between the Pacific Northwest and various Midwest, Texas, and East Coast destinations.

Atlanta-based ITL will buy 200 refrigerated intermodal containers over the next several months, joining the 200 containers it currently has in circulation, the company said in an email. Each of the new units will have space for as many as thirty 40-inch-by-48-inch pallets and will be able to haul up to 44,000 pounds.

In addition, ITL is increasing its staff and office space to accommodate the growth, expanding its office space in Kansas City to complement its existing administrative facilities in Georgia and Washington State. ITL's expedited door-to-door domestic intermodal temperature-controlled service operates six days per week, departing from and returning to intermodal ramps in Spokane, Wash., Portland, Ore., and Seattle.

ITL uses its 53-ft refrigerated containers to move frozen foods, fresh produce, and other perishable products eastbound from Washington State and Oregon to the Midwest, Texas, and the East Coast, while the company's westbound return service typically hauls various frozen, refrigerated, and temperature-controlled products, as well as dry inventory.

"We remain fully committed to Washington State and Oregon shippers and receivers and will focus much of these additional resources to reaching the Texas and Southeast markets to and from our commercial base in the Pacific Northwest," Infinity Chief Commercial Officer Steve Lawson said in a statement.
