Mail and parcel sorting equipment manufacturer Fluence Automation said Wednesday it has acquired the parcel processing and material handling technology firm Post Integrated Solutions (POST-IS) in a bid to meet rising demand for e-commerce fulfillment tools.
Wheeling, Ill.-based Fluence Automation said the move would enhance its technology offerings and add dedicated staff to its growing parcel delivery market. Fluence will also continue to serve customers in traditional mail and postal sorting, while Halethorpe, Md.-based POST-IS contributes capabilities in the e-commerce, postal, and parcel automation markets, the company said.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. POST-IS Founder and President Rob Stone will join Fluence Automation and lead the Fluence business unit focused on e-commerce automation.
By joining forces, the two firms will be able to offer an automation platform that provides high-speed parcel induction, encoding, and data-automation solutions including scanning, dimensioning, weighing, address reading, variable-length, dynamic labeling, and sorting technology, Fluence said.
The enhanced platform will help customers reduce their costs and delivery timeframes by increasing production speed in e-commerce, mail, and parcel processing, distribution, and shipping operations, Fluence President and CEO Mike Swift said in a statement.
