Supply chain software vendor Logistically Inc. said Wednesday it had integrated application programming interfaces (APIs) from freight-pricing software firm SMC3 Inc. into its transportation management system (TMS).
Green Bay, Wis.-based Logistically said that connecting SMC3's APIs to its cloud-based TMS will allow users such as third-party logistics providers (3PLs), brokers, and shippers to obtain fast, reliable rating and less-than-truckload (LTL) transit and terminal information.
API technology allows computers to share data directly with each other instead of relying on third-party interfaces or batched communication formats such as electronic data interchange (EDI).
SMC3's RateWare XL will allow Logistically TMS customers to quickly obtain rates and audit their LTL pricing, whether they use the API to discover individual rates in milliseconds or batch their research and obtain rates for up to 5,000 shipments per minute, according to Logistically.
The other API, SMC3's CarrierConnect XL, ensures that users have accurate transit information by revealing whether shipments are moving directly through a carrier's network or through a partner network, Logistically said.
"Our customers have come to expect Logistically TMS to provide near-instant access to everything they need to make the best decisions," Logistically President Corey Coogan said in a statement. "Integrating with CarrierConnect XL and RateWare XL has enabled our customers to answer the questions of 'how much?' and 'when?' with the highest degree of confidence."
