FedEx Corp. will hire more than 50,000 seasonal workers for the upcoming peak holiday shipping season, with most of the hiring to occur at the company's domestic ground parcel unit, FedEx Ground, the Memphis-based parent confirmed today.
The company also said it will increase the work hours of an undetermined number of existing employees to prepare for the spike in volumes between Thanksgiving and the first week or so after New Year's Day.
Last week, UPS Inc., FedEx's Atlanta-based rival, said it would add 95,000 seasonal workers to its holiday rolls.
