Material handling equipment is known for being fast, sturdy, and reliable. But we don't always think of it as being groundbreaking or innovative. An MHI awards program aims to change all that. Each year, the trade group hands out Innovation Awards to companies that come up with unique solutions to manufacturing and supply chain challenges.

For the 2017 MHI Innovation Awards competition, a panel of seven judges picked the winners from a field of 153 innovations submitted by exhibitors at the ProMat show. The winning entries were chosen for their innovation in creating quantifiable and sustainable results in terms of ROI (return on investment), cost savings, and customer satisfaction. The following awards were handed out at the event:

  • The Best New Innovation award went to Proship Inc. for its CVP-500 Automated Packaging System, a fit-to-size solution that optimizes the fulfillment process by creating a custom-fit package every seven seconds.

The Best Innovation of an Existing Product honors went to EuroSort Inc. for its Twin Push Tray Sorter, which effectively doubles the available throughput of the existing EuroSort Single Push Tray Sorter.
  • The Best IT Innovation award went to Ubimax GmbH for its "Enterprise Wearable Computing Suite," which consists of four core solutions: "xPick" for intralogistics, "xMake" for manufacturing and quality assurance, "xInspect" for inspection and maintenance, and "xAssist" for remote assistance.
