Wavelink comes under Ivanti name after merger

Supply chain mobile device management provider Wavelink Corp. has re-branded as Ivanti Software Inc. after parent company LANDesk Software Inc. was acquired by a California-based private equity firm, the companies said this week.

Santa Monica, Calif.-based Clearlake Capital Group LP said Monday it had completed its acquisition of LANDesk, a Salt Lake City-based cyber-security provider, and merged it with another holding, the cloud services provider Heat Software Inc. of Milpitas, Calif.

The IT management firms will now be known as Ivanti, and will specialize in helping enterprise-size clients adjust their IT operations and security practices to allow for growing trends such as dispersed workforces and cloud-based computing platforms.

South Jordan, Utah-based Wavelink provides mobile supply chain productivity products, such as its Speakeasy product for adding voice capability to applications in order to increase productivity and its Velocity product for providing mobile access to host applications such as warehouse management system (WMS) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

Ivanti will act as a single point of contact for clients, allowing LANDesk, Heat Software, and business arms such as Wavelink to cross-sell products into markets they couldn't previously reach alone, Leslie Bonsteel, Ivanti's director for analyst and public relations, said in an email. No layoffs are planned as a result of the merger.

"The Wavelink team already shared access to LANDesk marketing, engineering, and other resources, but because Wavelink addresses a different buyer segment than the more enterprise IT-focused LANDesk, there was less collaboration on the sales side of the house," Bonsteel said. "We believe there are great opportunities to cross-sell between business units, and hope to see more of this in the future."

The products will now be known as "Velocity powered by Wavelink" and "Speakeasy powered by Wavelink," both sold under the Ivanti umbrella. Wavelink has already sold some of its sister companies' products in the past. For instance, it made a version of LANDesk's Xtraction reporting and analytics dashboard available to supply chain buyers, Bonsteel said. Ivanti will rename the Wavelink division as its "supply chain business line."
