DHL Express, the unit of German transport and logistics giant Deutsche Post DHL Group, said today it will expand its footprint in southern California by moving to a 66,730-square-foot facility in Santa Ana.
The new $6.2 million service center will be 27,000 square feet larger than DHL's old facility in nearby Irvine. The move reflects increased shipment volumes in Orange County and surrounding environs, DHL said.
The facility will be about 40 miles from Los Angeles International Airport, five miles closer than its Irvine location, DHL said.
The Santa Ana service center serves an area extending from San Clemente to Brea, Calif., DHL said.
DHL's U.S. express operation is headquartered in Plantation, Fla., near Fort Lauderdale.
