Freight brokers reporting to the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), the broker trade group, posted a 7-percent sequential gain in shipments during the second quarter, paced by a 6.2-percent gain in truckload shipments, TIA reported today.
Second-quarter revenue rose sequentially by 6.8 percent, to $2.1 billion, TIA said. The average per-shipment invoice fell by $4 per shipment, to $1,652, according to TIA. Brokers participating in the report handled nearly 1.3 million shipments in the second quarter, TIA said.
Brokers with less than $16 million in annual revenue reported the largest sequential gain in shipments, with a 13-percent increase, TIA said.
TIA members report business transacted via truckload, less-than-truckload (LTL), and intermodal.
