The Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA), and the Canadian International Freight Forwarders Association (CIFFA) said today they have a released a white paper on Canadian freight regulations that govern the freight brokerage industry.
The white paper. entitled "Doing Business as a Freight Broker in Canada," was written by Gordon Hearn, a partner at Fernandes Hearn LLP, a Toronto-based law firm. The report is designed to provide the respective members with access to detailed information on the Canadian regulations that govern freight brokerage, the groups said. Canadian regulations for arranging freight vary by province.
"Gordon's white paper will be an invaluable resource to TIA members on both sides of the border as they learn how to best grow their business and work with customers who are moving freight among or from the provinces, said Bob Voltmann, TIA's president and CEO, in a statement. "Any company acting as a freight broker arranging the movement of goods into, out of, or through Canada by truck will find the information they need in Gordon's comprehensive white paper," added CIFFA Executive Director Ruth Snowden. "Members of our associations on both sides of the border will benefit from his encyclopedic knowledge of the subject."
The groups said they would publish the white paper on their respective websites. TIA members can find this document in the "Members Only" section of www.tianet.org. CIFFA members will find the paper in the Toolbox. A login is required.
