Third-party logistics (3PL) provider NFI said today it has begun using natural-gas-powered vehicles in the Southeastern U.S by rolling out 12 compressed-natural-gas (CNG) trucks to support the operations of an unidentified national home-improvement retailer.
Cherry Hill, N.J.-based NFI already uses natural-gas-powered fleets in California, Texas, and Pennsylvania. It deployed its first natural-gas-powered trucks in 2012 out of Los Angeles.
NFI said in a statement that it is partnering with GAIN Clean Fuel, which has opened a CNG station in the central Florida city of Kissimmee. Based in Appleton, Wis., GAIN provides CNG fueling centers across the country.
