Con-way Freight, the less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier unit of Con-way Inc., said today it will raise rates by 5.9 percent on its noncontractual business, effective June 24.
The rate increase will apply to shipments moving within the United States and Canada as well as cross-border shipments moving between the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada, according to a Con-Way statement.
UPS Inc., YRC Freight, and ABF Freight System Inc. have all imposed a rate increase of 5.9 percent on traffic that doesn't move under contract. A fourth, FedEx Freight, has imposed a 4.5-percent rate increase.
