Arkansas Best Corp., the parent of less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier ABF Freight System Inc., said today that Wesley D. Kemp, ABF's president and CEO, will retire effective Dec. 31.
Kemp, 65, will be replaced by Roy M. Slagle, 57, ABF's senior vice president of sales and marketing.
Kemp, a 43-year ABF veteran, was named president and CEO in January 2010. Slagle, who has been with ABF for 35 years, has been in his current post since January 2006.
ABF is headquartered in Fort Smith, Ark.
