It goes without saying that paying attention to your customers brings rewards. For the four largest parcel carriers in the United States, it also brings special recognition.

The biggest names in express shipping were recognized recently at the Fourth Annual "Stevie" Awards for Sales and Customer Service in Miami Beach, Fla. This year's shipping industry winners are:

  • Sales Representative of the Year: Mitch Sobocinski, DHL Express, New York City
  • Sales Department of the Year (Distribution and Transportation): UPS, Atlanta
  • People's Choice—Favorite Customer Service (Airlines, Distribution, and Transportation): FedEx, Memphis, Tenn.
  • People's Choice—Favorite Customer Service (Public Services and Education): U.S. Postal Service, Washington, D.C.

The Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service, managed by American Business Awards, generate public recognition of the accomplishments of sales, customer service, and call/contact center professionals, departments, and organizations worldwide.

Why the name "Stevie"? According to the American Business Awards Web site, it comes from Stephen, which is derived from the Greek for "crowned."
