There's no shortage of teenagers who aspire to be doctors, lawyers, teachers, and so forth. But if DHL has its way, young people around the world will soon add another profession to their list: logistician.
In April, the logistics and express company launched its "Discover Logistics" initiative. Young people who go to www.dhl-discoverlogistics. com can learn about careers in international logistics through interactive multimedia activities (featuring DHL, of course).
They can also participate in an online logistics game called "DHL Fast Forward." The multilevel simulation game will let international teams use their logistics, business management, and intercultural communication skills to transform a virtual logistics company into a market leader. In January 2009, the best teams will head to DHL parent Deutsche Post WorldNet's headquarters, where their virtual companies will compete against each other on service quality, innovation, and customer orientation.
