SC Johnson, maker of such well-known consumer products as Glade, Off, and Pledge, plans to move into a new $20 million distribution center along the edge of the Renaissance Business Park in Sturtevant, Wis. The 432,000-square-foot facility will replace a current overflow warehouse. ProLogis is developing the facility for SC Johnson under a seven-year lease. The building is due to open late this year or in early 2009.
Interstate Warehousing is adding 135,000 square feet to its distribution facility in Franklin, Ind., which is 15 miles south of Indianapolis. When it is completed this fall, the addition will provide cooler and freezer areas and about 40,000 new pallet positions.
Norfolk-Southern has officially opened its Rickenbacker Intermodal Terminal in Columbus, Ohio. The $68.5 million project will allow the carrier to handle 250,000 cargo container transfers from train to truck a year. The company's projections show that over the next 10 years, the intermodal facility will save shippers $660 million in transportation costs.
