For distribution managers who want to implement RFID technology quickly, Manhattan Associates and Alien Technology Corp. have jointly developed what they call "RFID in a box."

The bundled package includes RFID technology from Alien, a producer of RFID tags and hardware, and supply chain execution applications and pro—fessional services from Manhattan Associates, a developer and provider of supply chain execution software.

The package is designed to facilitate implementation of RFID technology for both retailers and their suppliers. It includes RFID readers with two antennae per reader as well as RFID tags from Alien Technology Corp. to label and track goods. Customers will receive a limited-license version of Manhattan Associates' Trading Partner Management application, allowing them to have their suppliers generate RFID tags remotely and apply them to goods. The package also will include remote Electronic Product Code (EPC) printers to print the RFID tags.
