Regarding Peter Bradley's article "beyond green" (August 2007), it was nice to see that other companies are on the same path as we are. We are just completing installation of a 1.19-megawatt solar power array at our Rocklin, Calif., distribution center that will be more than four football fields in size and generate enough power annually to run 440 U.S. homes for a year!
We also are under way with the installation of a 550-kilowatt solar array in our Dayville, Conn., distribution center and a LEED-certified cold storage distribution center in Ridgefield, Wash. We are the nation's largest distributor of natural and organic food with coast-to-coast presence, and there are many other ongoing projects we are pursuing to save energy and reduce our environmental impact.
If DC VELOCITY would like more information for future articles, we would be happy to share our experiences to help shorten the learning curve for others pursuing green initiatives. I hope to see more green articles in future editions of your magazine. Keep up the good work!
