  • Keeping construction on schedule. Ajover S.A., a multinational producer of construction materials, disposables, catering packages and petrochemical resins, will use HighJump's Supply Chain Advantage software suite to manage its fast-growing supply chain operations.
  • Sweet deal. Catalyst International Inc., a global supplier of supply chain execution solutions, recently devised a comprehensive wireless data collection solution for C&H Sugar Co. Inc., which provides sugar for consumer, foodservice and industrial consumption.

The FKI Logistex Baggage Handling Team has been awarded a contract from Skanska USA Building Inc. for the implementation of a new inline hold-baggage screening project at Tampa International Airport. The contract, which is valued at more than $15 million, follows the FKI Logistex Baggage Handling Team's successful implementation of dual security screening loops and a state-of-the-art baggage handling transport-and-pier sortation system at the airport in 2003.
  • RFID expertise on tap. TrenStar Inc. has acquired and will provide outsourced management of the beer keg fleet of Adolph Coors Co.'s operating subsidiary in the United Kingdom, Coors Brewers Limited (CBL). TrenStar will make its radio-frequency identification-enabled (RFID-enabled) aluminum and stainless steel keg and cask fleet available to CBL under a 15-year agreement.
  • Gold standard. Gold Star Line Ltd., one of Asia's fastest-growing regional shipping lines, has joined the GTN POréal, becoming the 21st ocean carrier worldwide to adopt the industry-backed, multi-carrier transaction platform for sea freight management.
  • "Ryding" the currents. Ryder System Inc. has renewed its contract with PartsRiver Inc. for ongoing parts data quality services. Under the agreement, PartsRiver will continue to help Ryder eliminate pricing discrepancies and identify areas where Ryder can leverage parts data to improve purchasing decisions.

NRF: Retail sales increased again in September

Retail sales increased again in September as employment grew and inflation and interest rates fell, according to the National Retail Federation (NRF)’s analysisof U.S. Census Bureau data released today.

“While there have been some signs of tightening in consumer spending, September’s numbers show consumers are willing to spend where they see value,” NRF Chief Economist Jack Kleinhenz said in a release. “September sales come amid the recent trend of payroll gains and other positive economic signs.
