… and humbled by the judges of the annual American Society of Business Publication Editors' national awards competition. Last month, those judges named DC VELOCITY one of the Top 10 business magazines in the country. The annual awards competition is the oldest and by far the largest in the business publishing field. This year's contest attracted more than 2,450 entries.
In notifying DC VELOCITY of the award, Roy Harris, ASBPE's national vice president and competition chairman, said, "[The] award is the most prestigious acknowledgment that your work has met high standards of excellence and is at the top of your profession."
Making the 2003 Magazine of the Year Top 10 List is a notable achievement in and of itself. Many fine business magazines that have been publishing for decades have never made the list. But DC VELOCITY's award is particularly notable for two reasons: first, it's the only magazine serving the logistics/supply chain field ever to have earned the honor, and second, it managed to achieve this distinction in its first year of publication (DC VELOCITY was launched in January 2003). One member of the ASBPE staff noted, "That is a jaw-dropping bit of news. Start-ups simply do not make the Magazine of the Year List."
"When we launched 18 months ago, we set out to create a new breed of magazine for the logistics market that sets new standards for magazine quality and excellence," says DC VELOCITY Publisher Jim Indelicato. "Reader feedback from Day One has indicated that our editorial team has done just that. To have that view validated by the most prestigious panel of judges in the business is certainly heartening."
