Strong demand for bulk handling equipment offset soft results in other conveyor industry sectors during the first half of 2004. According to data released by the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) at its fall meeting in Chicago, new orders increased 7 percent in the first half of 2004, as compared to the same period last year. CEMA estimates that new orders totaled $2.46 billion during the reporting period.
The organization continuously tracks new orders and "shipped" sales volume in seven classes of unit handling equipment and five classes of bulk handling equipment.
