It could hardly go out and preach about efficiency, synergies and integration without applying the same principles to its own operations. And thus, in the name of building a stronger, more capable corporation, Siemens Dematic Corp. has announced that it has completed the integration of Siemens Dematic Corp., Siemens Dematic Postal Automation L.P., and Siemens Dematic Electronic Assembly Systems. The combined organization will henceforth be known as Siemens Logistics and Assembly Systems Inc. (Siemens L&A). The company expects this integration to benefit its customers through increased efficiencies, greater speed and more tailored solutions.

Siemens L&A is made up of four distinct divisions that will serve specific types of customers. They include:

  • Airport Logistics—Airport baggage, cargo and security solutions.
  • Distribution and Industry—Integrated material handling solutions for retail, wholesale, manufacturing, assembly and in-process operations.
  • Electronics Assembly—Surface mount technology and pick-and-place technology for the electronics industry.
  • Postal—Letter, flat and parcel mail sorting and handling solutions.

"By merging these companies, we can more effectively leverage our strength as a global market leader to achieve greater economies of scale and innovation to improve our offerings to our customers," says Johann Loettner, president of the Logistics and Assembly Systems Group of Siemens AG. "The new organization enables us to turn innovations into integrated solutions that ultimately provide a competitive advantage for our customers."
