Electronics distributor Avnet has broken ground on a new integration and logistics center near its current distribution facility in Chandler, Ariz. The company will ship nearly 700,000 customized computer systems annually from the 228,000-square-foot center, which is expected to open in May 2008.
Exel has moved its Houston transportation command center to larger quarters adjacent to George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The 12,000-square-foot standalone facility serves multiple clients with a suite of transportation management services.
Winebow, an importer and distributor of wines from around the world, has moved into a new 200,000-squarefoot distribution center in Pine Brook, N.J. The facility is double the size of the company's previous center. It is also fully automated, which enables it to handle twice as much volume as the old center did without adding staff.
Hitachi Transport System, a third-party logistics service provider, has leased 88,000 square feet of facility space from ProLogis in Monterrey, Mexico. The newly completed building is located within the ProLogis Park Monterrey Airport, which is a 250-acre distribution and industrial development.
