  • Members of the SPX Dock Products management team have joined with Wynnchurch Capital Ltd. to acquire the company from SPX Corp. Along with the ownership change, SPX Dock Products has changed its name to 4Front Engineered Solutions Inc. 4Front will continue to market its line of loading docks under the Kelley, Serco, TKO Dock Doors, LoadHog and APS Resource brands.
  • Supply chain consulting and design firm Fortna has added two industry veterans to its team. John White III is the company's new executive vice president. He will be responsible for leading Fortna's expanded supply chain management consulting services practice. White, who comes to Fortna following a stint at Adjoined Consulting, previously worked for CapGemini, Manugistics and Accenture.

    Appointed to the post of director of optimization technologies is Arturo Hinojosa. He will work with clients on developing their systems technology to reduce initial capital investment and increase productivity. He brings more than 20 years of experience to his new position, including work with The Progress Group and ADS Specialists Inc.
  • The Transportation Marketing & Communications Association (TMCA) has named Michelle McManus as its ecommunications chairperson. In this role, McManus will work with TMCA staff to develop an online communications strategy for educating the transportation industry on the value of marketing and communications. While she is helping the association in this task, she remains in her full-time job as Web marketing specialist for Ozburn-Hessey Logistics.
  • The Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) has promoted Robin Moody to manager of conference programs. Moody has been with the trade organization for seven years. In her new position, she will be responsible for planning, management and execution of the educational content for the ProMat and NA shows. She will also continue to assist with the administration of the Automatic Guided Vehicle Systems (AGVS) and Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) Product Sections and the Integrated Systems and Control Council of MHIA.
  • AIMS Solutions, a division of AIMS Logistics, has appointed Mike Flaherty as carrier manager for the Solutions Division. He will manage and negotiate carrier contracts, develop and maintain activity reports, and identify and implement cost-saving opportunities for clients. AIMS Solutions works with clients to create custom applications that improve the efficiency of their transportation networks.
  • The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) elected officers for 2006-2007 during its annual conference in San Antonio, Texas. The board chair elect, Edward Huller of Alden Consulting Group, automatically succeeds to chair of the board of directors. The 2005-2006 board chair, Mary-Lou Quinto, automatically becomes the immediate past chair of the board of directors. Ms. Quinto is the director of global logistics for Genentech Inc. Officers elected to serve on the new board include board chair elect Richard Murphy Jr. of Murphy Warehouse Co.; board vice chair Roger Woody of EMBARQ; and secretary and treasurer Robert Silverman of Tommy Hilfiger USA Inc.

    In addition, Abré Pienaar of iPlan Industrial Engineers was named planning chair; Michelle Meyer of Resources Global Professionals is the new roundtable chair; Noemi Alexander of USAA Real Estate was chosen as membership chair-North America; Jan Willem Proper of NHTV Breda University of Professional Education is membership chair-International; Donald (Dee) Biggs of Welch Foods Inc. is information technology chair; Heather Sheehan of Danaher Corp. is program chair; Keith Turner of Alcoa Inc. is education strategies chair; and Nancy Nix of Texas Christian University is research strategies chair. Rick Blasgen, CSCMP president and chief executive officer, is also a member of the board of directors.
  • Stephanie Curs is the new international programs director for the International Association of Refrigerated Warehouses (IARW) and the World Food Logistics Organization (WFLO). This new position was created to handle the growing number of programs that IARW and WFLO are now conducting around the world.
  • Bart Van Went, formerly vice president of Nedcon USA, has been promoted to manager of Nedcon's Integrated Systems Division, which focuses on customized storage solutions in the worldwide market. Pieter Smit will now manage the U.S. operations.
  • Patrick McCarthy is the new national accounts manager for Rapid Rack Industries. He brings more than 20 years of industry experience to his new position with the company, which supplies shelving rack and workbenches.
  • TNT Logistics North America has added two new business development managers to its team. James Coyle and Foster Thomson IV will both work out of the company's Jacksonville, Fla., office.
