DHL has announced plans for a new service center at the Salt Lake City International Airport. The $4.3 million investment includes construction of a 62,000-square-foot facility and surrounding areas for pickup, delivery and sorting operations. Currently, packages are offloaded at the airport and shuttled to a processing center in West Valley City, Utah. Those operations will be consolidated into the new service center once it opens in August. The new facility will handle a variety of shipments, including domestic and international parcels, as well as palletized and containerized freight.

Construction of a seventh distribution building is now under way as well. That 467,000square-foot building is expected to be completed within the next few months.
