Good news for shippers who have FedEx Express, FedEx Freight and FedEx Custom Critical on speed dial. Now they'll only have to make one call. FedEx Corp. has announced a new service that gives customers access to a broad range of expedited services— both air and ground—through a single point of contact.
Called FedEx Expedited Freight Services, the new service lets customers choose the best shipment method for their time-sensitive heavy freight by calling a toll-free number. Customer service agents on the other end of the line then use proprietary information technology to identify the optimal solution based on the customer's pickup and delivery requirements, the freight's time sensitivity and so forth. The FedEx transportation services range from exclusive-use trucks and on-demand air charters to second-day less-than-truckload freight shipments.
"Our customers' business needs change daily, and in some instances, hourly," says Douglas G. Duncan, president and CEO of FedEx Freight. "Customers are seeking reliable transportation solutions that offer flexibility as well as specialized options to meet their specific transportation needs. We are simplifying the sometimes complex process of provider selection, without locking customers into one mode or network."
