we've heard of job fairs, but job concerts?

Country music star Travis Tritt had the crowd on its feet at a July concert in Front Royal,Va., but the show's sponsor would probably rather have them seated—preferably behind the wheel of a big rig. In a new twist on driver recruitment, Greatwide Dedicated Transport took over the Warren County Fair Grounds on July 9 as it sponsored a Travis Tritt concert/recruitment drive. The company is recruiting 300 new drivers and Greatwide personnel were on hand to accept and process applications.

Greatwide says the event proved to be a huge recruiting success, with many drivers filling out applications on the spot. As part of its recruitment promotion, the company, which is a division of Dallasbased Greatwide Logistics Services, hosted a hospitality tent featuring free drinks and BBQ for Front Royal contractors, family members and applicants. Current Greatwide contractors who referred an applicant received free concert tickets, as did those drivers who completed an application. As a result, some 300 of the 3,000 concert-goers were guests of Greatwide Dedicated Transport.
