Safepik system

July 1, 2007
No Comments

The new Safepik system provides a safe environment for order picking from high elevations. The system is designed to improve lift truck order picker operations in warehouses and distribution centers, while saving money and increasing productivity throughout the picking process.

Safepik consists of a large platform and cargo cab with access door, side window, and interior shelf. The Safepik platform is engineered for safely moving loads of up to 750 pounds. The enclosed cargo cab ensures both operator and inventory are secure at all times. Smaller items can be picked safely from a window in the cargo cab. Larger items can be selected from the opening between the order-picking equipment and the cargo cab itself.

To operate the system, the lift operator simply raises the platform to the desired level for inventory retrieval. When order picking is complete, the operator simply lowers the Safepik to floor level and opens the door for unloading.

The 40- by 48-inch base platform is constructed from 0.187inch steel and features a steel pallet-retention stringer for the order-picking clamp. The totally enclosed cargo cab provides approximately 84 cubic feet of interior space for maximized load capacity and reduced off-load trips. A bright safety-yellow powder-coat frame features 0.500- by 3.50-inch cutouts for high visibility and improved sight lines. The full-size access door ensures quick offloading. It also has a burst-proof latch to secure contents. The large 21- by 24-inch drop-down window is made from shatterproof polycarbonate and has an exterior safety latch. This allows for easy picking or unloading from within the cargo cab. An interior shelf measuring 21 by 37 inches is secured with a barrel bolt and has a 200-pound capacity for convenient organizing of inventory.

Options for the Safepik include an additional side window or a window for the access door. Shipped in five easy-to-assemble panels, the unit requires only a single tool for quick assembly.
