The I-Pack in-motion packaging solution from B+ Equipment collapses the sides of a shipping case over the articles inside for a secure, sturdy package ready for shipping. For other packages ready for sealing after articles have been picked, the I- Pack automatically scores and folds the cardboard at the maximum height of the articles for fast, durable packaging that uses the least amount of material possible. This decreases packaging and shipping costs.
The reduction in the use of materials is suited to the initiatives of major retailers to reduce packaging waste. It also will help shippers cope with new volume shipping paradigms of parcel carriers, as parcel volume can now rapidly override weight in determining shipment pricing.
After products are picked directly into the cartons, they pass through the I-Pack packaging system, which automatically adjusts the depth of the cases to the height of their content. The case walls that protrude above the content are folded and glued with hot melt and a cardboard lid is glued over the top of the case, also with hot melt. The I-Pack machines can process up to 13 cases per minute and can be integrated into existing packing lines.
