Solar Transport Drives Home with Two IMTA Awards

September 20, 2018
No Comments

(West Des Moines, IA) - On the final evening of the Iowa Motor Truck Associations (IMTA) Management Conference, IMTA recognized 8 Professional Drivers as 2018 Master Truck Drivers at the Chairman's "Best of the Best" Awards Gala.
Solar Transport congratulates Dennis 'Denny' Maher for being selected as a 2018 Master Truck Driver. "Denny is a true veteran in the transportation industry with over 45 years behind the wheel. Denny's driving record of 3.5 million preventable accident-free miles, along with a spotless motor vehicle record (MVR) and CSA record reflects his commitment to safety," beamed Solar president, Rich Clair.
The IMTA Master Truck Driver program recognizes the industry's top drivers who have compiled a career record of excellence through professionalism and service. To be nominated for the Master Truck Driver award, a driver must meet strict criteria that includes being employed by the company for at least 10 years, have driven at least 10 years, or 1,000,000 miles, without a preventable accident, have no moving violations or roadside inspection violations in the last 3 years and complete a phone interview with a panel of transportation professionals.
Solar Transport also received a Fleet Safety Award from IMTA at its Chairman's "Best of the Best" Awards Gala on the basis of their accident frequency mileage to accident ratio in the Tanker class, 2-5 Million Miles Operated Division.
Eric Osterhaus, North and East Regional Operations Manager, ensures safety is the number one priority with every mile hauled.
"Nothing is more important to Solar Transport than the safety of our professional drivers and protecting the motoring public with whom we share the roads. Solar Transport is driven to be safe, and our programs demonstrate our safety focus. The number one goal each day in to perform the job is a safe, efficient and timely manner with ZERO incidents."
