Interlake Mecalux introduces its AS/RS to North America

Best known in North America for its rack solutions, Interlake Mecalux is now introducing its automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) to the market. The company has experienced success in both Europe and Latin America with its AS/RS solutions and is now looking to expand into the United States, according to Mathieu Theureau, head of automation and national accounts for the Spain-based company.

Interlake Mecalux provides both crane- and shuttle-based AS/RS solutions. Unlike most other AS/RS providers in the U.S., Interlake Mecalux makes the racks that go into the system itself. These racks are manufactured either in the U.S. or Mexico and as a result, have a short leadtime.

The benefits of using an AS/RS as opposed to a simpler rack system include space savings, increased throughput, and reduced labor requirements.
