Two years after introducing a similar guarantee in Europe, Jungheinrich is now offering an industry-exclusive two-shift operating guarantee in North America. Under the program, Jungheinrich guarantees that specified models of its trucks with conventional lead-acid batteries will run two eight-hour shifts on a single battery charge, lowering customers' costs and reducing downtime associated with battery changes and recharging. The company has achieved "exceptionally long run times" with its electric warehouse trucks for years, thanks in large part to its proprietary highly energy-efficient motor and controller designs, including regenerative energy capture when the mast lowers, said John Sneddon, Jungheinrich director of sales, and Perry Ardito, general manager, warehouse products group, at a press conference.
The lift truck maker is challenging customers to test the guarantee, which currently applies to six models but will eventually be expanded to the entire line. Certain conditions apply to the guarantee.
