SSI Schaefer launches one container for land and sea

It used to be hard to find a bulk container that would work well both for being packed into a 40-foot sea container and for being packed onto the 53-foot trailers common in North America. The Packaging Systems Division of SSI Schaefer Systems International Inc., however, says it has cracked the code with its new GlobalStac bulk container.

GlobalStac, which was formally launched today at ProMat 2017, provides 95 percent cube utilization for both land and sea, according to David McCulloch, CEO of U.S. operations for SSI Schaefer's Packaging Systems Division.

When collapsed, the container has a height of 12.9 inches and has the lightest tare weight in comparable bulk container products, the company says. It is available in seven height selections.

McCulloch also announced the rollout of a new sustainability program for Schaefer's customers. Once Schaefer's products have reached the end of their usable life, customers can contact the company to arrange for recycling of the product. Schaefer will also determine the product's value as recycled material and apply a credit to the customer's account toward the purchase of future Schaefer products.

For more information, see the SSI Schaefer website.
