Canadian robot manufacturer Clearpath Robotics Inc. displayed its Otto self-driving vehicles, showing how the company's simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology enables the robots to change their routes if something blocks their path. Compared to AGVs, the approach helps avoid delays, keep production on schedule, and reduce congestion on the distribution center floor, Clearpath says. The Kitchener, Ontario, company makes the Otto 100 self-driving vehicle for autonomous light-load material transport in factories and warehouses, and the Otto 1500 for heavy-load material transport.
