IAM Robotics, a provider of autonomous mobile manipulation platforms based in Pittsburgh, Pa., launched its flagship product this week with the Swift robot. A fully autonomous mobile picking robot intended for order picking and stock work, Swift is the centerpiece of an order fulfillment solution that also includes a three-dimensional item scanner called IAM Flash and a fleet management software platform called SwiftLink. By integrating a mobile Fanuc robotic arm into warehouse operations without requiring changes to existing infrastructure, Swift can navigating multiple aisles and pick at or above human-level speeds, allowing adopters to streamline operations and meet the demands of e-commerce, CEO Tom Galluzzo said in a press conference.
