I.D. Systems Inc. announced several new products, including a new family of trailer and container tracking devices and additions to its industrial vehicle management system that are designed for smaller forklift fleets.
The company is now making the core capabilities of its PowerFleet vehicle management system available in a preconfigured version it calls PowerBox. This version includes the most frequently used capabilities, including vehicle access control, impact management, electronic safety checklists, maintenance control, and a standard list of fleet utilization reports that are automatically sent via e-mail to the user. PowerBox uses cellular technology to transmit data to a hosted system, with a one-time up-front cost and monthly payments. This brings the cost down considerably, making the system appropriate for small and medium-sized fleets as well as larger fleets that need only basic capabilities. No special IT work is required; I.D. Systems' goal, said Vice President of Marketing Greg Smith, is to have "'out-of-the-box' functionality" that can be installed quickly and at minimal cost.
Other products making their debut were the "didBOX," a low-cost, wired device for vehicle access and impact sensing, available in either a button or keypad version, and the VeriWise suite of tracking services and devices for trailers, containers, chassis, railcars, and refrigerated equipment developed by Asset Intelligence Solutions. I.D. Systems bought Asset Intelligence in January.
