Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. has renewed its contract to haul the New York Mets' bats, balls, gloves, and uniforms from New York to Florida next spring when the team launches a campaign to defend its National League Championship title.
The Thomasville, N.C.-based less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier will continue as the Mets' official freight provider under a new, three-year contract.
Mets ballplayers may not play their first spring training game until March 3, but the season starts earlier for Old Dominion, when the carrier reports to Citi Field in Flushing, N.Y., in February for the annual send-off ceremony to haul the players' gear to their spring training facility in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
As part of the sports marketing partnership, Old Dominion will post its logo at home plate and on the main scoreboard in the baseball stadium.
