  • Michael Moore has been hired as district sales manager for Remstar. Moore, who will oversee Los Angeles-area sales for the automated storage systems manufacturer, previously worked for Mecalux as a territory sales manager in Chicago.
  • Brian Lutt has been named president and chief operating officer at JHCI Holdings Inc., parent of the Jacobson Companies. Lutt comes to Jacobson, a thirdparty logistics service provider, from Neptune Orient Lines, where he was president of APL Logistics.
  • Wildeck has appointed Merlyn Jarman systems integration sales manager for its North American operations. Jarman brings more than 20 years of industry sales experience to his new position. Wildeck manufactures mezzanines, material lifts, and safety products.
  • Todd Swinderman, director and chief technology officer of Martin Engineering, has been elected president of the Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA). Other officers elected at the organization's 76th annual meeting include Bill Pugh of RalphsPugh Co., who will serve as vice president; George Huber III of Industrial Kinetics, who will serve as secretary; and Merle Davis of Automotion (Wynright), who will serve as treasurer. New CEMA board members are Bill Casey of SI Systems, Jim McKnight of Intelligrated, Joe Forte of Portec Flomaster, and Michael Hoehn of Automatic Systems.
  • Randy Richards has joined FreightScan as executive vice president of sales and service. He previously was vice president of cargo sales and services at US Airways and has also worked for Emery Worldwide and Ceva Logistics. FreightScan offers cargo dimensioning and cargo screening devices.
  • Michele Bisesi has been promoted to regional director of Northeast operations for Smokin' Stampede, the truckload brokerage division of TBB Global Logistics. She has been with TBB Global, a New Freedom, Pa.based thirdparty supply chain management firm, since 2006.
  • Mark Holmes, vice president, global integrated solutions for OHL, has been named chairman of the American Society of Transportation and Logistics. The organization offers educational and professional certification programs in transportation and logistics. Holmes, who has been involved with the society for seven years, recently completed a twoyear term as the organization's vice chairman.
  • Gary Christopherson has been elected chairman of the Stockton (Calif.) Port District board of port commissioners. Christopherson, who was first appointed to the port commission in 1999, is a partner in the Stockton law firm of Kroloff, Belcher, Smart, Perry & Christopherson.
  • Earl Agron, vice president of security for the global container shipping line APL, has been appointed to the National Maritime Security Advisory Committee by the Department of Homeland Security. The committee advises the U.S. Coast Guard and the Homeland Security Department on maritime security strategy and actions needed to meet security threats. Agron is the only shipping line executive on the eightmember committee.
  • CIT Rail, a company that provides leasing and financing services for the rail industry, has made two appointments to its railcar leasing management team. Matt Franko has been named vice president, railcar leasing based in Kansas City. He covers the Midwest for CIT Rail and was most recently with the Kansas City Southern Railroad. Steve Nielsen has been named vice president, railcar leasing based in Allentown, Pa. Nielsen, who now handles the MidAtlantic and Eastern regions, was with the Union Pacific Railroad for 18 years.
  • Nguyen Thi San will serve as branch manager for C.H. Robinson's new office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The office will serve Southeast Asia.
  • Andrew Janson has been promoted to president of Hanson Logistics. Janson had previously been executive vice president of business development for the St. Joseph, Mich.based company, which provides temperaturecontrolled transportation, warehousing, and supply chain services.
  • Exel, a supply chain management, warehousing, and transportation company, has announced several promotions. Jim Damman has been named president of the newly formed Technology, Aerospace, and Service Logistics Americas business unit. Tim Sprosty has been promoted to senior vice president of human resources. Roger Ross has been named vice president, Consumer and Life Sciences Americas. Kathleen Davies is now vice president, risk management, Americas Shared Services. Ronn Melton is vice president operations, Automotive and Industrial Americas, and Stanley Jackson is vice president operations, Consumer and Life Sciences Americas.
