The State of Florida's Division of Emergency Management has built a 200,000-square-foot State Logistics Response Center in Tallahassee. The warehouse is designed to store and distribute basic necessities to Florida communities struck by disaster. SJF Material Handling of Winsted, Minn., provided pallet racking, flexible conveyors, and a tool crib for the new building.
DHL Exel Supply Chain (DESC) has signed a deal with AMB Property Corp. to lease new properties in North America, Europe, and Asia. In North America, DESC will lease property near the Seattle/Tacoma port complex, where it will establish a new West Coast distribution hub.
USF Holland has signed a long-term lease for a new truck terminal that is under construction in Bedford, Pa. The facility will initially have 24 doors but can be expanded to 40.
Trane, a manufacturer of heating and air-conditioning systems, has announced plans to consolidate operations from its distribution facili- ties in LaCrosse, Wis., and Memphis, Tenn., into a new building in Southaven, Miss. (near Memphis). The facility, which is due to open early this year, will eventually employ 140 workers, including 60 people transferred from the Memphis DC.
