As part of an ongoing celebration of its 85th anniversary, lift truck manufacturer Raymond Corp. dedicated its new manufacturing plant in Muscatine, Iowa, in September. The event highlighted the new production equipment installed at the plant, which will see further equipment investments into next summer. The Muscatine plant is dedicated to the manufacture of walkie, end rider, and center rider pallet trucks. Raymond, now part of Toyota Industries North America, has benefited greatly from the adoption of the Toyota Production System, which has caused productivity at the plant to soar by 20 percent over the last two years. … Mallard Manufacturing, a Sterling, Ill.-based maker of carton-flow and pallet-flow products, has been purchased by Kevin Risch and Mike Gunderson, two industry veterans. Risch will serve as president and Gunderson as executive vice president. … Due to rising demand, Cathay Pacific Cargo has increased its freighter service between Hong Kong, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Atlanta from four times a week to once daily. … The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reports that overall industry orders for the first six months of 2007 increased 11.1 percent compared to the first half of 2006. Overall, orders totaled $4.1 billion, with about $4.0 billion worth of product shipped during that period. … Intelligrated has opened a new sales office in Orlando, Fla. Walt Gurzenski, who has joined the company as sales engineer, will be responsible for serving customers in the new office. ... RedPrairie is expanding its two U.S. data centers to support growth in its software-as-a-service business. The company is partnering with SAVVIS, an IT infrastructure services company, to support the hosting business. … West Motor Freight of PA has acquired the assets of Sanger Trucking, headquartered in Fredericksburg, Pa. Forty tractors will be added to West's fleet, bringing the total to 275 tractors. West provides flatbed and van service to shippers in the Northeast and Midwest. … SEKO has moved its office in Louisville, Ky., to a new facility near the Louisville International Airport. … Doosan Infracore, a manufacturer of yard and warehouse lift equipment, is acquiring several businesses from Ingersoll-Rand, including the Bobcat compact construction equipment line. … Menlo Worldwide (Con-way) has expanded its reach into China with the purchase of Chic Holdings and its subsidiaries Shanghai Chic Logistics and Shanghai Supply Chain Management. Chic Holdings is a provider of third-party services operating from 130 sites in 78 cities within China. … Glacier Computer has been named to Inc. magazine's list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies. The mobile computer manufacturer was ranked 3,565th on the list. … CTSI, a provider of supply chain information services, is opening three new international offices in Limerick, Ireland; Chennai, India; and Xiamen, China. The company also has plans to open offices in Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Panama, and Colombia.
