Establishing a fair price for motor carrier and logistics services isn't as simple as it used to be. These days, shippers are asking carriers for realtime service data, higher-quality service, and improved communications— none of which is easy to translate into dollars and cents.
To help shippers, carriers, and logistics service providers (LSPs) gain a better understanding of the pricing process, the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Executive Education Program offers a course called "Pricing and Costing Motor Carrier and Logistics Services." The class is designed to offer something for everyone. Shippers will learn how to select a logistics partner, build a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with that partner, and use financial and activity-based management accounting tools to assess that relationship. Carriers and LSPs will learn about the fine points of costing and pricing the services they're asked to provide.
The course will be offered on Oct. 29-30, 2007; March 31-April 1, 2008; and Oct. 20-21, 2008. The fee is $1,095. For more information, visit http://exed.wisc.edu.
