Most companies joining the fight against hunger donate food, contribute money or lend employees to the effort. But container and pallet pooling giant CHEP has found another way: eliminating shipping hassles. CHEP will now allow its clients to ship food donations directly to America's Second Harvest's food banks via its pallets and containers. Participants will no longer have to transfer the donations onto other pallets or containers for delivery.
Once the donations have been delivered, CHEP will facilitate the return of empties to its service centers for inspection and maintenance. As a result, food banks will no longer have to buy or transport pallets, and donor companies will no longer have to foot the bill for pallet returns.
