There's no word yet on how players feel about having the glare of the spotlights on their every miscue and fumble. But America's TV viewers can thank Pacer International if they're enjoying welllit broadcasts of NBC's prime-time "Sunday Night Football." Under a contract from General Electric, the North American logistics and transportation specialist will be responsible for transporting a 22-ton generator package to the locations of 20 National Football League games, where it will supply up to 2,400 amps of power to the NBC mobile broadcast studio.
It appears that Pacer will be racking up plenty of yardage over the course of the season. According to Ron Painter, manager of corporate transportation programs at GE's Corporate Initiatives Group: "[Pacer will be] crisscrossing the continent on a stringent schedule, repositioning the generator from stadium to stadium along a route that will exceed 15,500 miles."
