Transplace, a third-party logistics provider, today named Brooks A. Bentz, one of the transportation and logistics industry's leading consultants, to head the company's newly formed consulting practice.
Bentz joins Dallas-based Transplace as president of Transplace Consulting Services, its North American consultancy. Bentz reports to Transplace CEO Tom Sanderson.
Bentz spent 21 years with Andersen Consulting/Accenture, where he was a managing director in supply chain management responsible for supply chain transportation. During his career, which has spanned more than 40 years, he was also vice president of intermodal for the then-Burlington Northern Railroad Co., where he developed BN America, the company's domestic container operation.
Though Transplace already offers consulting services, Bentz's hiring and the creation of a new consulting practice reflects the discipline's increasing prominence within the organization. Transplace has long provided consulting services to existing 3PL accounts, an operation headed by Ben Cubitt, the company's senior vice president—consulting and engineering. Transplace's growth has taken it into areas such as international, intermodal, and brokerage, segments that Bentz is likely to focus on.
