ALK Technologies has released PC-Miler|Rail 14, the latest version of its rail routing, mileage, and mapping software. The new version includes 240,000 miles of North American rail lines with 49,320 freight stations on 701 railroads and more than 3,400 unique junction interchanges.
The latest version provides a number of features and tools. The AutoRouter or Single Route Entry Mode provides customized railroad selection for simplified route entry. It also offers location identification using city and state Standard Point Location Codes (SPLC), Freight Station Accounting Codes (FSAC), Eastern Railroad Presidents Conference Codes (3-3-3), or Rule 260 Junction Codes (R260). A Custom Place Manager provides the ability to assign custom station or customer names to the PC-Miler|Rail database. A Railroad Mileage Reporting feature provides detailed route reports that list railroad mileage in addition to via points and major cities with leg and cumulative mileage.
Two supplemental connectivity products also enhance the software's utility. PC-Miler|Rail- Connect seamlessly interfaces PC-Miler|Rail routes, mileage, and reports with those of all leading transportation and logistics management software systems. Within other software applications, users can calculate mileage for an origin/destination pair with intermediate stop-off points, display maps, run state-by-state mileage breakdowns, and generate detailed station reports. PC- Miler|BatchPro enables users to automatically summarize empty, loaded, and total mileages by equipment ID, railroad, or state and province for a large number of rail movements.
