3-in-1 product identification tag

CHEP may be best known as a pallet and container pooling specialist, but it's clearly no slouch in the RFID innovation department. The company has introduced a 3-in-1 product identification tag that can be read by an RFID reader, by a bar-code scanner or by a human being. As a result, CHEP's customers can now capture data needed for product tracking even if some of their facilities are not yet outfitted with RFID readers.

The company says the tags conform to EPCglobal standards and offer full RFID read/write capability, which allows CHEP customers to temporarily write product-related information, such as serial shipping container codes, to the tags.

The first application will be in CHEP's U.S. Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) business. These containers are used to ship liquid raw materials and food ingredients.
