Hammerhead computing products

August 1, 2006
No Comments
DRS Tactical Systems Inc. has launched a new line of Hammerhead rugged computing products. The Hammerhead and Hammerhead Xtreme feature exclusive data protection technologies, "anywhere" connectivity, and a comprehensive selection of display options, including a reflective display for use in bright sunlight.

DRS's ShutOut technology seals and protects all Hammerhead computers from water, dirt and other contaminants. Inside the new rugged tablets, ProtectIT and QuickBack technologies protect critical information from corruption and loss. ProtectIT safeguards valuable data by retracting the drive heads when extreme shocks or acceleration occur. If the computer does experience data corruption, the QuickBack recovery system immediately recovers the data by turning the clock back to a point prior to the loss or system failure.

The computers' integrated wireless LAN 802.11 a/b/g and Bluetooth, as well as optional WAN (GPS, GPRS capability), allow for connectivity anywhere. Additional features include Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, Intel Centrino mobile technology with Intel Pentium M Processor, 512MB or 1 GB memory, shock-mounted 1.8-inch 40GB or 60GB hard disk drive, and optimal displays for all working environments.
