Bastian brings robots to the loading dock

Material handling products provider Bastian Solutions debuted its newest mobile robotics solution during Modex 2018: ULTRA mobile robots, designed for truck trailer loading and unloading.

ULTRA robots are engineered for the narrow space and expansive reach of transport vehicles, ranging from extended vans to intermodal containers. Bastian said the robots offer high throughput, picking up to 20 cases per minute, and can be integrated with a company's existing warehouse management and warehouse control systems. The robots help reduce labor costs, are easy to install, and require no battery, according to the company.

"There is automation everywhere else in the warehouse, except for that last [piece]," said Bastian's marketing manager Stefanie Hardy. "[This product] completely automates the loading and unloading of the truck."
