Freight forwarder and third-party logistics provider (3PL) RIM Logistics Ltd. said yesterday it has acquired a cross-docking facility in the Los Angeles region and plans to begin full operations in July.

The 315,000-square-foot facility in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. will host Roselle, Ill.-based RIM Logistics' regional forwarding, warehouse, and distribution operations under one roof, the firm said.

The site is currently under construction, and will feature state-of-the-art cross-dock capabilities. RIM said the facility, with 40-foot ceilings and 68 doors, will combine high throughput with cross-docking and forwarding, and provide storage capacity in a narrow and vertical environment.

RIM said it plans to take possession of the warehouse portion of the facility—roughly 305,000 square feet—around May 1, and the office portion by July 1. RIM specializes in air and ocean domestic and international freight forwarding, warehousing and distribution, domestic operations, project management, customs brokerage, cargo insurance, consolidation, cross trade, and compliance, the firm said.
